Writing
I follow Julia Cameron's "morning pages" ritual. I wake up nearly every day before five am and write for twenty-five minutes–that usually yields Cameron's recommended three pages. Most of her insight is spot-on–it really does take a good page-and-a-half to find the pay-dirt.
My Substack newsletter is called We Could Have It All Wrong with Michael Sharick. I publish new essays, reflections, book recommendations, and meditations, two or three times each month.

Writing to Discover
Writing is a method of communicating with the unconscious mind. Many of us make attempts to communicate with the unconscious mind. Talk therapy is the most common method. Filmmaking is the best (and perhaps most expensive).
Writing is the most accessable.
Stories are everywhere.
Tell a story. Write to discover your story.
Music
My main instrument is electric bass, which I've studied and performed since 1994. I've performed original music with many bands including Soulstream, John Scarpulla, and Becca Frame and the Tall Boys.

From 1999 to 2003 I wrote and performed with a band called Slinky Tripp, based in the tiny town of Stamford, New York. I still make music with former ST members Sam Doyle and Brian Shafer, both of whom I've known nearly my entire life.
